The purpose and objectives of the specialty

The purpose: to prepare researches-culturologists who able to explore cultural processes in the world, country, region, and also participate in the formation and realization of scientific-practical programmes to preserve and develop nature and cultural potential of the region and of the country in multiethnic and multireligious society and globalization.
Objectives: to acquire holistic perception of the scientific picture of the world; skills for organizing and conducting research; knowledge enabling further doctoral study; knowledge in the fields of psychology and pedagogy of higher education; teaching experience.

Job description

Areas of professional activities:

  • pedagogical and educational activities in higher and secondary special educational institutions, institutions of additional education;
  • organization and carrying out scientific research, expert activities in the field of culture, cultural policy, inter-ethnic and intercultural communication;
  • administrative and organizational activities in the field of public administration cultural processes, tourism, education, public organizations;
  • development and implementation of programs of cultural development on different levels (organization, social and professional groups, East Kazakhstan region, country).

The objects of professional activities:

  • scientific research institutions and organizations of any ownership form;
  • management and expert consulting research organizations;

Ethnoculturology  and Intercultural Communication:
Results of studies of Department’s scientific direction “Human development in the context of social modernization" (head of direction: doctor of philosophy, Professor K. Akhmetzhanova.), author's courses of leading professors and associate professors of the Department. The participation of graduate students in scientific and educational cooperation with other organizations and universities, the activities of cultural centres (SEC Altaitanu, SEC Nazarbaevtanu)

Culture of the region:
The regional component in the content associated with culture, ethnic and social structure of the population in East Kazakhstan region. The training of specialists, able to participate in the formation and realization of scientific-practical programmes to maintain and develop the unique cultural and natural potential of the East Kazakhstan region. Consideration of  needs of the region, based on researches of the labour market and research proposals of the social partners.

Religious and secular culture:
Original courses of leading scientists of the Department: doctor of philosophy, Professor K. Ahmetzhanova, candidate of phylosophy N. Igisinova, PhD G.  Chungulova. Specialists’ preparation in the field of expert, educational, and research activities on realization of state policy in the sphere of ensuring rights of citizens to freedom of religion and interaction with religious associations, consolidation of a multi-confessional community of Kazakhstan in the conditions of a secular state, prevention of religious conflicts, solving problems in the field of interfaith relations

Master of humanities majoring in 6М020400-"Cultural studies" has the following core competencies in the areas of:
1) ideological (KK1)
knows the basic concepts of history and philosophy of science;
bases on the principles of formation of the scientific picture of the world.
has a meaningful citizenship, based on the principles of patriotism, of tolerance.
able to integrate the knowledge gained within different disciplines to solve research tasks in new unfamiliar conditions.

able to solve tasks through heuristic approaches, not using well-known algorithms;
ready to take an active research position in relation to its activities and himself as its subject;

Know the contents of the main theoretical approaches to the study of the processes of transformation and evolution of ethnic and social communities in the context of the history of culture; the specificity of historical and cultural development of Kazakhstan.
Be able to analyze the cultural processes of ethnic and social communities.
Have the skills to develop recommendations aimed at strengthening the unity of the Kazakh nation.

" Culture of the region”
To know the peculiarities of the formation of the specifics of East Kazakhstan region in the context of cultural history; the regional component in the teaching of cultural studies.
To be able to analyze cultural processes at the regional level.
To have the skills to develop recommendations for solving various regional socio-cultural problems.

"Religious and secular culture"
To know the conceptual framework for the analysis of religious and secular cultures, to have an idea about the role of religion in Kazakhstan as a secular state.
To be able to analyze the religious situation, as well as to know the essence of the state policy in the sphere of ensuring rights of citizens to freedom of religion and interaction with religious associations and to be able to take part in its implementation.
To have skills of analysis of issues of interaction of religious and secular culture, planning educational activities aimed at the formation of identity, promoting consolidation of the Kazakhstan society.
